Rocket Languages French Review
French, like English, is a non-phonetic language—that means spelling doesn’t match pronunciation. And mispronouncing a French word in France can get you laughed at or ignored—the French are a people who take their language seriously.
But Rocket French can help you say what you want to say in French with near-native pronunciation. How? By letting you record your responses to vocabulary card questions and compare what you say to what a native speaker would say.
After you compare each recording, it asks you to give your response a grade between 1 and 5. The cards you grade lower will be repeated more often until you begin to grade them higher. Cards you grade higher will appear less and less frequently since you have mastered them.
Although learning to pronounce words correctly will slow down the speed at which you learn compared to programs focused just on vocabulary words, its approach will ensure that when you need to speak French, you’ll have the knowledge and the confidence to speak it well—and if Frenchmen and Frenchwomen dislike people who speak their language poorly, they also absolutely adore those few foreigners who speak it well.
